How to Pick a Tulip or Daffodil
For the longest vase life, harvest when the flowers are still partly in bud, with 50%+ of their color showing on the outer petals. To pick tulips or daffodils, simply grasp the stem as close to the ground as possible and pull straight up. Pulling from the ground level is important because if you pull higher up, the stem could snap leaving you with a short flower or worse, just the flower. This gives you maximum stem length. Don't worry if the bulb comes out of the ground when you pull the stem. Simply snap off the bulb and leave it lay in the row. Please note that these bulbs are coming out of the ground to early in the season to produce a bloom next year and will not rebloom even if you save and replant them.
You are also always welcome to cut tulips & daffodils with our provided snips the ‘old-fashioned’ way too!
Ranunculus and Alliums must be cut with a snips. No Pulling! These two flowers join the spring lineup later in the season around the beginning of May.
Please note: As a Pennsylvania agricultural operation, we do not assume any liability for injuries or other difficulties you may have while visiting our property.
Bloom Report
Daffodils are in full bloom. 40,000+ of them!
Tulips - Planted 120,000 of them! Peak bloom NOW thru 30th. We hope to still have Tulips through the first half of May as we planted a lot of extra late varieties!
Ranunculus & Alliums - Estimate them to bloom the second half of May and all of June!
This is our best estimation. Check back for updates. Thanks!
